Host a Thanksgiving Tea Party

The Thanksgiving holiday and tea both bring people together, so it makes sense to combine the two. Here are some ideas for hosting a Thanksgiving-inspired tea party this week.
  • Decorate the table with warm, harvest-related colors, such as orange, red, yellow and brown. Do not worry about having a perfectly coordinated table scape, but rather embrace the eclecticism of the holiday. Michaels has an assortment of Thanksgiving themed tableware.
  • Centerpieces can include a bouquet with Fall flowers such as: sunflowers, red carnations, orange spray roses, spiral eucalyptus and transparent orange oak leaves. The bouquet can be surrounded by nuts, dried fruit and crabapple branches.
  • Create a warm ambience with scented candles that have harvest inspired fragrances, such as pumpkin spice, gingerbread, apple, cinnamon and warm vanilla sugar.
  • Top Party Ideas suggests having a “Thanking Tree,” which can be a tree branch from outside. Insert the branch in a vase and secure it with sand or marbles. Cut paper leaves out of construction paper and punch a hole at one end of each leaf. Each guest gets a leaf and writes down things for which they are thankful and then decorates the branch with their leaves. During the tea party, each guest can remove their leaf and share what they wrote and why they are thankful.
  • Etsy offers a wide array of pumpkin teapots to complete the harvest theme.
  • Several tea companies have harvest themed teas that celebrate the day. Here are a few:
