Bianca Shah on Monday was named chief executive officer of International Tea Importers (ITI), following the sudden death of her father and company founder Devan Shah.
A new leadership team will report to Bianca, 22, who announced the appointment of Bhavin Shah as chief operating officer effective June 6. Bhavin will assume responsibility for all ITI operations and finance and will lead the Waterfall Tea Company subsidiary. Devan’s son Brendan Shah, 23, will assume the role of chief technology officer and Dhaval Shah has been appointed chief marketing officer.
“Bianca has been trained by Devan over the past several years and has been groomed to take over as the head of ITI, as part of the company’s success plans,” according to the company. “A business management graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Bianca has played a key role in developing ITI’s current strategy for growth and organizing company operations for flexibility in an increasingly demanding marketplace,” according to the company press release. ITI Advisor James Norwood Pratt said that, “Devan Shah’s extraordinary vision has positioned ITI as one the leading tea companies in the U.S., at the forefront of innovation and creativity in specialty tea.” “I have spent a significant amount of time with the new management team and feel confident ITI is well positioned to expand its leadership position in the specialty tea industry,” said Pratt. Bhavin previously played a pivotal role leading many of ITI’s growth initiatives as director of sales, marketing and operations until 2006. Bhavin was most recently a senior finance officer at CIT Bank, New York. He holds dual degrees in Business Management and Industrial and Organizational Psychology from The College of NJ and also earned an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Brendan Shah is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics and Dhaval Shah has spent the last decade at Verizon Communications where he held various sales and marketing positions including responsibility for driving product development and establishing best in class business intelligence and reporting processes. The new management team will work closely with Office Manager Amjad Pathan (AP) and Operations Manager Zankhna Desai (Zee) to make sure that orders are handled smoothly and leave our warehouses properly. ITI Chairwoman and Co-founder Reena Shah commented assured customers can expect to receive the highest quality service and the best tea selection available anywhere. “My late husband's passion has positioned ITI as one of the top purveyors of fine tea in the US. I am confident that Bianca and the new management team she has assembled will continue to expand on our leadership position in the specialty tea industry," she said.
