Nepali Tea Traders expands distribution to Colorado Whole Foods stores Company Receives Coveted North American Tea Championship Award
Denver, Colo. – March 13, 2014 – Nepali Tea Traders announced that its teas are now available in Whole Foods Stores across Colorado as well as in a growing number of specialty tea shops across the state and nationwide. The Colorado company offers pure teas exclusively from small farms in Nepal, grown at optimal altitudes of 4,000 – 8,000 feet.
“With the interest and growth in premium teas, we’re delighted to offer our unique high-quality teas to the growing community of tea drinkers in North America,” said Maggie Le Beau, founder of the company. Orthodox teas from the Ilam region of Nepal have not been widely available in the United States until now. The relatively young age of the tea plants and the growing altitudes promote slower growth, which results in higher concentrations of flavor and healthful benefits.
Confirming expert opinions that teas from Nepal are among the world’s best, Nepali Tea Traders earned a North American Tea Championship award last week. Its Kalo Chia black tea, from the fall 2013 harvest, received a third place designation from a judging panel that includes leading tea experts and professional cuppers. The pure black tea (not flavored or sweetened) is described as rich and supple, with notes of intense fruit, honey and spice.

The company’s teas are cultivated on small farms by growers who rely on natural, chemical-free farming methods. Fifteen Whole Foods Stores in Colorado now offer six of the company’s most popular teas in tins designed to preserve freshness. Its loose teas include:
