This month PG Tips will be expanding its one year old Fruit & Herbal and its Green Tea line with four new additions. The new teas are Vibrant Blackcurrant, Crisp Mint, Zesty Lemon & Ginger and Delicious Cranberry & Apple. PG Tips, a Unilever UK brand, believes that these teas will draw more customers to its current line. The fruit and herbal range was introduced in February of 2014. These pyramid bag offerings previously included Refreshing Peppermint, Delicate Chamomile, Juicy Red Berries, and Aromatic Spices and Mint. The Green Tea line began with five other teas: Pure Green, Juicy Raspberry, Fragrant Jasmine, Vibrant Mandarin Orange and Zesty Lemon, before adding Crisp Mint. “By launching new flavors into our portfolio we aim to build on the growth we’ve seen in 2014 and attract even more new consumers to the category with relevant Flavor profiles to drive incremental sales,” says Lola Danlos, brand manager for PG Tips Fruit & Herbal and Green tea line, in press reports. PG Tips earliest history began in 1870 when tea purveyor Arthur Brooke was asked to supply bulk tea for wholesale. In the 1930s, Brooke launched the brand Pre-Gest-Tea which was abbreviated to PG by grocers. The company renamed the brand PG Tips, to communicate that the tea was the coveted top two leaves and a bud. Delicious Cranberry & Apple and Vibrant Blackcurrant earned the Great Taste Award from the Guild of Fine Foods. SOURCE: Talking Retail
