As BloomburgBusinessweek has reported, much more Ugandan tea is being produced than originally thought.
Though the original January forecast of 2013 tea yield was thought to be 55 million kilograms, Uganda is now expected to produce 60 million kilograms. The most tea produced in one year in the country of Uganda was 59 million kilograms in 2010. The Ugandan Tea Association is attributing this surge in production to good weather, including a sizeable amount of rain.
A major exporter at the Mombasa auctions, Uganda is the 3rd largest tea producer in Africa behind Kenya and Malawi.
