In 2024, World Tea Expo launched the new Protégé Training Program, which gives those new to the tea industry the unique opportunity to learn about the market, network with peers, and work behind the scenes to see how a tradeshow like World Tea Expo is run. The free program also includes access to the Tea Primer session, for which they will receive a certificate. In addition to the Tea Primer session, protégés can attend other general sessions during the conference, on the days they are not training in the Prep Room or at the Tea Bar.
The program was a resounding success in 2024, and it's returning for the 2025 World Tea Expo. "I have personally contacted several business owners who sponsored employees, and they were thrilled with the launch of the program," says Faith Bailes, Conference Producer and facilitator of the Protégé Training Program. "We feel confident that this will be a strong added benefit for all of our attendees and exhibitors as World Tea Expo plans on continuing the program in 2025 to assist in training future tea employees."
Those approved for the program will need to cover their travel, housing, and meals, but the conference, Meet & Greets, Opening Night Reception, and selected World Tea Events are all included in the program. If the participants successfully meet all the required hours and duties of their training, they will receive a certificate of completion.
"I feel it is very important to have your employees catch the 'tea passion fever,' and they certainly do after spending three days participating in this program," says Faith Bailes, Conference Producer and facilitator of the Protégé Training Program. "They get to meet others in similar situations and learn from each other as well as the speakers and professionals at the conference. The best part is that it is free and certificated for them. It also is the only program of its kind—a hands-on working program, by the only tea-focused B2B trade show in the states."
