Choice Organic Teas Introduces Shiitake Oolong
Seattle-based Choice Organic Teas just launched its Shiitake Oolong Mushroom Wellness Tea. It joins four other teas in the Mushroom Wellness collection—Reishi Detox, Shiitake Mate, Shiitake Turmeric and Reishi Matcha—which debuted in 2017. As with the company’s other wellness teas, this new blend was the product of collaboration between a master herbalist at Bastyr University and Choice Organic Teas’ blending specialists.
The blend combines shiitake mushrooms, synergistic herbs ashwagandha, and eleuthero root with oolong and smoked black tea.
The new tea blend was formulated “to promote a healthy metabolism and support immunity,” according to a company press release. The tea is classified as an Herbal Dietary Supplement, meeting FDA testing and quality standards. It is also certified USDA organic, Fair Trade Certified and Non-GMO Project Verified.
Mushrooms, which have long been incorporated into traditional medicine in different cultures, have recently gained in popularity in the functional food and beverage markets.
Shiitake Oolong Mushroom Wellness Tea, along with the rest of the Mushroom Wellness Teas, can be purchased on the company’s website. A portion of proceeds will go towards a Bastyr University student scholarship fund.
Sainsbury’s Created Brussels Sprouts and Pigs in Blankets Flavored Teas
Metro reports Sainsbury’s will pour Christmas dinner into tea cups. The London-based grocery and housewares store created two new teas that incorporate the flavors of familiar dinner dishes: brussels sprouts and pigs in blankets (bacon wrapped sausages encased in pastry dough).
The Brussels Sprouts Flavour Tea is a green tea mixed with real brussels sprouts.
The Pigs in Blankets Flavour Tea features the flavors of sausage, sage and rosemary, but is vegan and free of calories.
Both teas will launch in time for the holiday season. The teas will each retail at £1 ($1.30) per box of 10 teabags and can be used as stocking stuffers.
