Wandering Whistler Introduces Alcoholic Teas
Portland, Maine-based beverage company, Wandering Whistler, introduced two alcoholic teas in May, reported Forbes. Founder Jackie Atlas combined her experience in the beer industry with her love of tea.
The craft brews are:
- Earl Grey + Elderflower, which is a blend of Earl Grey tea, elderflower and a touch of honey;
- Jasmine is a blend of green tea and jasmine for a light and crisp taste.
Atlas ferments cane sugar, tea leaves and yeast and then adds natural flavor for enhancement. Each can contains 4.5% alcohol by volume and only 3-4 grams of sugar.
So far, the alcoholic teas are currently distributed to bars and retailers in Maine and Rhode Island with Massachusetts next. Atlas intends to grow distribution in the Northeast and then spread to the Midwest and West Coast. The target demographics for these beverages are wine and hard seltzer drinkers, as well as the hot tea community.
Chai will be the next alcoholic tea blend to debut soon. Atlas also plans to add Moroccan Mint, Rooibos, and Lemon Verbena flavors in the future.
Newground Created Hard Tea and Coffee Lattes
Charlotte, North Carolina-based Fundamental Beverages just launched two Newground Hard Dutch Lattes in the United States. Imported from Holland, the beverages combine nitro technology and quality ingredients for smooth taste.
Hard Dutch Café Latte and Hard Dutch Chai Latte are malt beverages comprised of real tea or coffee, Dutch cream, natural flavors and alcohol.
While the Café Latte provides a caffeinated boost, the Chai Latte is a caffeine-free blend of black tea, natural spices and notes of vanilla. The beverages contain 5% alcohol by volume.
“Inspired by the Dutch philosophy of living every day to its full potential, we jumped headfirst into developing a brand that breaks new ground and created an entirely new RTD category,” said Phil Rooney, CEO of Newground in a press release. “Newground Hard Dutch Lattes are versatile enough to be enjoyed anytime, from a post-night-out brunch to a much-needed afternoon kickstart or end of day sweet satisfaction. We’re excited to share a taste of Holland with the US and introduce hard lattes to the market.”
The Newground Hard Dutch Lattes are available in Georgia and Pennsylvania at select retailers, including Publix and Circle K. Distribution will continue to expand throughout the United States.
