From the mountains of Sri Lanka comes Ceylon tea, the world’s finest. The unique groundwater, soil, and weather of the island give each plant its own fragrance and flavor. We at Tea Plus Ceylon import these quality tea varieties directly from Sri Lanka. Our experts can help you select the best tea to fit your needs—wholesale, retail, self-drink (teas for drinking), re-blend (teas for blending), and RTD (ready-to-drink tea).
Specialty in Ceylon tea
Sri Lanka has seven regions that produce tea with a different flavor, aroma, and color.
Nuwara Eliya – golden with a delicate fragrance and flavor.
Uda Pussellawa – dark with a subtly tangy flavor.
Dimbula – amber with a mellow flavor.
Uva – pleasingly distinct aroma and smooth flavor.
Kandy – coppery color and robust flavor.
Sabaragamuwa – dark with a slightly sweet fragrance and mild flavor.
Ruhuna – dark with a bold flavor.
These regions still use the traditional methods introduced by James Taylor, the British founder of the Ceylon tea industry. The hand-plucked leaves are allowed to dry and then gently rolled, producing warmth that promotes oxidation. The leaves are then roasted, cooled, and screened by size.
