The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) has announced that after resigning from the SCAA Board of Directors, Dr. Timothy Schilling will soon be replaced by S&D Coffee and Tea’s Tracy Ging, according to The Global Coffee Review.
Schilling has recently resigned from his role with SCAA in order to dedicate himself fully to his work as Executive Director of World Coffee Research.
The Director of Sustainability and Social Responsibility for S&D Coffee and Tea, Tracy Ging, will replace Schilling effective immediately. S&D Coffee and Tea is a large tea blender and coffee roaster, headquartered in Concord, North Carolina.
“Tracy’s unique qualifications and expertise will be of immense value to the strategic leadership of the SCAA and we look forward to welcoming her to the Board of Directors,” said SCAA’s Executive Director, Ric Rhinehart, in a statement.
Ging’s appointment to the SCAA Board comes at a time when issues of sustainability are taking on increased importance.
“SCAA is focused on sustainable development and as such, this is a particularly important time for S&D to enhance its commitment to the organization,” said Ging. “We absolutely share a sense of urgency around issues such as economic viability for smallholder farmers, climate change risks, and the need for more strategic and coordinated approaches.”
