New Downton Abbey Tea for Season 5

New Downton Abbey Teas as Season 5 Nears As Downton Abbey prepares to return to American television screens on Jan. 5, customers are exploring The Republic of Tea’s expanded Downton Abbey tea collection. 42052_BatesBrambleberryThe Downton Abbey miniseries has been a breakout hit for PBS. The show follows the Crawley family and their servants as they experience the challenges of the 1910s and 1920s in England. The fifth season has been eagerly anticipated by fans and themed items have appeared in the form of clothing, books, Christmas ornaments, and, in this case, tea. The first teas Republic of Tea introduced in this line were Downton Abbey English Rose which combines rose, raspberry and hibiscus; Grantham Breakfast Blend with Assam and ginger; and Downton Estate which is a specialty Earl Grey with vanilla. Four new teas have now been added to the series. Bates’ Brambleberry combines summer fruit with black tea. Lady Cora’s Evening Tea is a blend of chamomile and lemon balm. Mrs. Patmore’s Pudding Tea melds the dessert-like flavors of carob, caramel and vanilla with black tea. Downton Christmas Tea turns to traditional holiday mulling spices like cinnamon, cloves and licorice root. The Christmas tea received a nod from the Specialty Food Association as a 2014 holiday gift pick. Downton Abbey is not the only media tie-in that Republic of Tea has attempted. In 2011 they introduced a chocolate chai “inspired by the film ‘The Adventures of Tin Tin.’” There have also been The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency teas and teas developed in response to “Brave” and “The Hundred-Foot Journey.” The Republic of Tea had some fun with the new release in partnering with Cost Plus World Market for a virtual Downton tea party called #DoTheDownton on Sunday, Dec. 7. Fans were encouraged to post pictures of their own tea parties on social networks for the chance to win prizes. Source: Republic of Tea
