The popularity of tea continues to rapidly grow in the United States. The State of the U.S. Tea Industry 2016 Tea Market Review by the Tea Association of the U.S.A. states that total tea imports in the U.S. increased by 1 percent with black tea imports increasing 2.3 percent.
Though green tea imports are lower than those of black tea, green tea is making an appearance in increasingly more products. Bottled teas accounted for nearly half of the entire U.S. tea market at 45.7 percent of market representation in 2016 according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation. Bottled tea is the fastest growing tea format in the market at 4 percent growth.
