For a second year in a row, the world will be celebrating International Tea Day on May 21, 2021, and the Canadian tea industry will be joining in the celebration with SofaSummit.
Hosted by the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada, this virtual event features a full day of interviews with tea experts around the world and will be streamed live on their YouTube channel for anyone to join.
International Tea Day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly on Nov. 19, 2019, passed by resolution 74/241. The importance of this day is to recognize tea producers around the world and raise attention for the second most consumed beverage around the world.
Tea enthusiasts can join the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada’s SofaSummit on May 21, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, for a full day of interviews with tea experts around the world and to celebrate International Tea Day. This virtual event is for anyone who wants to learn more about the 5,000-year-old beverage.
Tea production and processing is a main source of employment and income for millions of families in developing countries and, as the United Nations noted, “The day will promote and foster collective actions to implement activities in favor of the sustainable production and consumption of tea and raise awareness of its importance in fighting hunger and poverty.”
